Event Details

This free members' event explores the theme of education and offers an excellent opportunity to hear from NCB experts, including NCB's principal policy officer, Lisa Payne, and Local Government Office representatives, ensuring you can address the most important issues in the children and young people policy arena at present.

The seminar is part of a series of regional events to give members a unique chance to meet, network and exchange ideas with other NCB members.

NCB experts will address a range of issues tying in to the four event themes which were chosen based on feedback from last year’s events and will ensure a focussed discussion. Local Government Office representatives will introduce a local focus on the most important subjects on the national and regional agenda and they will be available for question and answer sessions.  Discussions arising from the events can be continued online at the new NCB discussion forum.

This seminar will focus on education (Will 21st Century Schools still be 21st Century in 2010?) and speakers are as follows:
  • Lisa Payne, Principal Policy Officer, NCB - Education Policy update - where we are now
  • Sue Owen, Director, Well-being, NCB - Education in the future and the NCB perspective. What could happen in the next 12 months?
  • Fergus Crow, Assistant Director Education, NCB - The role of schools in promoting children's well being. What it is now and where should it go?
  • Haf Merrifield, Director for Children and Learners, Government Office, East Midlands - A local perspective on well being in school particularly NEETS, the issue of now and the future

Come with your thoughts and issues on policy and practice.
